Documents required for marriage in the Seychelles

Visa/Entry Requirements for Seychelles
Seychelles is a visa-free country; however, a visitor’s permit can be obtained upon arrival at Seychelles International Airport.
To receive a visitor’s permit, present the following documents to the immigration officer:
Your passports, valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date
A valid return or onward ticket for the duration of your visit
Confirmed accommodation, such as a hotel booking or hotel voucher

Important:
All certificates must be apostilled before submission to the Seychelles Civil Status Office.
Failure to comply will result in the application not being processed.
Seychelles Wedding Ceremony

The marriage ceremony is conducted in English or French by an official Seychelles registrar in accordance with Seychelles law.

The minimum age for one or both parties is 18. If either party is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the couple.

At the end of the ceremony, you and the witnesses must sign the marriage certificate.

We will arrange all the necessary documents for you in the Seychelles so that you can enjoy your stay. You will not need to visit a single government office.

Two witnesses are required for a civil wedding. If you are traveling alone, we will provide two witnesses free of charge.

Weddings take place Monday through Friday. For weddings on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and on public holidays, an additional fee applies, and bookings can only be made upon request; confirmation is at the discretion of the registry office. The weekend/holiday fee is €280 (as of March 2024)

It is recommended to hold beach weddings on weekdays (Monday through Friday), as the beaches are less crowded then.
Guidelines for international couples
Swiss couples who get married with us in the Seychelles will receive an official marriage certificate after the ceremony, including an international apostille recognized in Switzerland. With this document, the marriage can be registered upon return to Switzerland at the competent civil registry office at your place of residence, and, if applicable, at the relevant consulate.
Please note that this registration must be carried out independently by the wedding couple. These formalities are not part of our service packages and must be arranged by the couple themselves.

Consular Services
French citizens are required to register their wedding in the Seychelles with the French Consulate at least two months in advance. These formalities must be completed independently by the couple and are not included in the price.

What about our passports?
Your passports must be valid for at least six months beyond your expected departure date from Seychelles.
Will the marriage be recognized in Germany or England?
Yes, legally conducted marriages in Seychelles are recognized worldwide and under European law.
We are from France. Is there anything special we need to know?
French nationals wishing to get married in Seychelles must follow different procedures. Please contact your local municipality or the French Embassy in Mauritius.
When do you need copies of our documents?
We require them at least 14 days before your wedding date.
How should we send the documents to you?
Simply scan them or take a high-quality photo and send them to our email address. We will confirm receipt upon arrival.
Which documents do we need to prepare?
To process your wedding documents for the registrar, we need all the relevant documents (see the list above) scanned and sent to us via email.
When should the printed copies of the required documents be delivered?
Upon your arrival in Seychelles, you should have either the originals or printed copies of all documents with you.
Can we invite guests to our wedding ceremony?
Yes, you can invite guests to your beach wedding. Please inform us in advance of the number of guests. The fee per guest is €20.
How can I bring my wedding dress to Seychelles?
If possible, we recommend packing the dress professionally and carrying it in your hand luggage, trolley, or similar. In case your checked luggage is lost or delayed, you will still have your dress for the wedding day.
Who will conduct our ceremony?
The ceremonies are conducted by the registrar in accordance with Seychelles law, ensuring your wedding is fully legal.
In which language is the ceremony conducted?
All weddings are conducted in English or German.
How long does the ceremony last?
The ceremony will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Do we need witnesses?
Two witnesses over the age of 18 must be present throughout the ceremony. You may bring your own witnesses, or we will provide two witnesses free of charge.
How long does it take to receive our marriage certificate?
The marriage certificate with an apostille will be issued within 2-3 business days after the civil wedding. For couples with a short stay, we can send the wedding documents via DHL/FedEx with tracking to their home address.
What is an apostille?
An apostille is a form of authentication issued for documents used in countries that are part of the 1961 Hague Convention. It simplifies the legalization of documents and verifies their authenticity, making them internationally valid.
